Straight Talk holds support meetings for those whose loved ones are incarcerated every other week. For some of these meetings Straight Talk brings guest speakers including therapists, lawyers, case managers, and advocates. Some past noted guest speakers were former NC State Senator Ellie Kinnard, ACLU Legal Director, Judge Chris Brooks, Dr. Anthony Smith, therapist, Mary Ward of the Dept. of Public Safety, Umar Muhammad of the Southern Coalition for Social Justice and Daniel Bowes of the NC Justice Center. Resource Center
The Resource Center can refer professional speakers address social, mental and economic effects incarceration has on family and friends. Professional speakers deliver keynote addresses, workshop facilitations and available for seminars, conferences and virtual events.
